Modern Olympic

The thing I have been working on for the Olympic  is the modem Olympic and the main thing that I learnt about in it is the Olympic torch because I  wrote A report about the Olympic torch and I got a lot of my information from my computer and some from books. I will share a little bit of what I found.

Introduction

A report is about the Olympic torch if you have so seen how they lit the torch that is fine, but if you don’t know how they lit it this report will help you know how they lit.The Olympic torch the thing about  this report is that it has not been rasht, but it has been dated and it has been made so that it is all about the Olympic torch and not about any other  random things about the Olympics games .

                   

What does the rio Olympic Torch look like

The Rio Olympic torch is white and the wavy lines that are green for the mountains greeny blue for the sea blue for the ground  black blue.  When you look at it all of it just looks like one big thing but really there parts of it that have sank into the torch. At the top of it there's some colors that look like a circle, but it is really some people holding hands. Also the top part of the torch stand for the sky and the green stand for the mountains, and lit ble is the sea and the dark blue is the ground. So that is how the Olympic torch design is different to the other Olympic torch. Also every 4 year the Olympic torch is different.

Lighting the Torch

When they go to light the Olympic torch a few people sing a chant and  some of the other people dressed in the color of the Olympic Ring. Then they will stand in five connected Olympic Rings to make the olympic Ring. Two flags are razz's (raised) next to the olympic Flag and they are Greece and  Brazil. the reason that it is those two flags are because Brazil was the first country  to hold the Olympic games and Greece is where the torch is lit . To light the Olympic torch one luckily person walks over to a bowl shape  mirror with the starting torch and then she will bend down and put the torch into the mirror. When the sun hits the right spot on the mirror it will lit (light) the starting torch and she will walk over to the person with the Olympic  torch and then she will pass the sacred flame to the torch then and she will give the person with the rio 2016 Olympic  and Olive wreath.

Who made the Torch

Some people would think the land Olympia or the Olympic Games made the Olympic torch but this very horrible man invent it. The reason he is so horrible is that he would kill anyone that didn’t have blue eyes and blond hair and that is the reason the flame of the Olympic torch is yellow, because he only like people with blond hair.

What does it take to carry the Torch

To carry the Olympic torch you half to be fit and helfe (healthy) so you can  run long distances without stopping. It really doesn't matter how old or young you are you just need to be healthy and fit and if you believe that you can do it. Running with the torch with your arms half (have) to be strong so you can hold the torch high in the air until you reach the next person waiting for you.

To get to Rio

For the Olympic torch to get all the way to Rio from Olympia the torch has to be lit a few months before the Olympics start so it can get there in time for the opening ceremony so the flame can lit (light) the big torch. If they lit it a few weeks before the Olympics it will not make it there in time for the opening ceremony .

Facts about the 2016 Olympic Torch

The weight of the Rio 2016 Olympic Torch is 1-1.5kg and the height of it is 63.5 to 69cm. Also the amount of torchbearer were 12, 000 and they all had to run for a long time.

Conclusion

Now you know a lot more about the Olympic torch and how they light it now you can write your own report about the Olympic torch. For the Olympic torch to get all the way to Rio from Olympia the torch has to be lit a few months before the Olympic games star. So if they light Olympic torch is lit a two month before the Olympics star do you think it will make it in time?

 One of the thing I did to help remember what I had read I took notes to help for when I came back to writ the next day. When I sat back down the next day I had my head down and my mind was on finish and I wrote 6 paragraphs.



The hard thing about this report was finding all of the information for my report it was fun and hard at the same time and I mostly had to look on line because there where not much books about the torch.     

This is the Rio 2016 Olympic torch and if you hold the Olympic torch it means that it is a big responsibility

Olympics learning

In my hub we are learning about the Olympics.  One of the things we did was building a model of the  Olympics city and it took 2 week to build. I learnt how to make nets to make the building for the Olympic city.

   Then we started picking an  athlete to learn about. I picked Genevieve Behrent. I learnt that this will be her first Olympics. Even before she knew that she would be competing in the Olympics she was part of a rowing team and last year she visited  Rio for a rowing tournament.

The thing that challenged  me was finding all of the information about my athlete and to make sure I got all the information that I need and to make it make sense. 

I used key words to help me write sentences into my own words for my slide.

Maui fish

This is the story of how Maui fished up the north island.

This was hard to write because I had never written a legend before  The thing that challenged me was getting in what the waka looks like and thinking of what to do next to make it exsiting (exciting) for the reader and trying not to do to many and , then .
Here is what a waka look like. It was really nice carving on both side and at the front the has a ticky face.

 

Fish of Maui

In a land far away but right here  there was and little tribe of Maori and in that tribe there (was) a  man named Maui  and he had 4 brothers. One night Maui four   julius(jealous) brothers were going fishing  but they did not tell the all powerful Maui brothers were julius (jealous) of  him because he had magical powers and he was the best at everything.

The four brothers were not aware that maui was lising (listening) and he was planning to sneak aboard the waka that was lying  peesfuly(peacfully)   on the beach.

This is where Maui will strike and make a little hiding spot on the boat were his brothers would not see him.

At the light of dawn the four brothers push the beautiful but heavy waka into the nice smooth sea where they set off on their fishing adventure.

When everything was peaceful out at sea  Maui sprang from his hiding spot and when he did all of his brothers were furious and they said To Maui “what are you doing here!” and Maui said “Because you did invite me so I decided to invite myself” when they got to the fishing spot Maui  ming and and said “this is not good enough keep rowing” all of Maui brothers were not afraid of Maui but they knew Maui had more power so they keep rowing. All day but when the sun went down everyone on the waka went to sleep but Maui had lots of energy and he rowed through the night with the light of Marama the moon.

The next morning when the four  brothers woke up they started fishing  but to make sure that Maui  would have a bad time they didn’t give him any batta. But Maui thought that batta is not good enough so he smashed his nose and smeared his blood up down and all around the magic gore(jaw).

The  bone was now  red the and Maui span the magic gore(jaw) bone into the deep dip(depths)s of the blue sea and as he was about to sit down. The magic bone snag onto a  litten caving that was on the lop of a whare that is a house Maui started to heave the amazing fish to the surface and while he was heaving he chanted a katheya  that went though Maui and the long line and into the fish that then the Fish began to get weak so Maui heave it up and when he did  the water became black and hard and the waka got knocked over.

 “I going to get my hook”said Maui but when Maui was out of sight Maui brothers started to slash the magnificent fish and when Maui returned The once smooth black Fish was now a vale(valley) of green hills. And that is how the north half of New Zealand was born .

Matariki

We are learning about Matariki.


Matariki is the Maori new year and it was a time when they planted new crops and the eels get bigger and fatter.

Today in Totara we where learning Matariki is about the seven sisters. We did lots of fun work shops. I did weaving and planting. I did weaving first, it took along time for me to know how to make this beautiful flakes (flax) rose. Next we went out to cut some more flakes (flax).  Then we made a normal flour (flower) that was even harder to make it but it was all where-fit (worth it) at the end.

The second thing I did was planting and was fun because we went around the school and look for good trees and bad trees. One of the bad trees is the pine tree the reason that   it is bad is because it sack (sucks) out all of the life out of the ground and every thing around it die and all pine trees should be though into the sea.

It is the rose that I made.

What challenge me was reading the ingredients and making sure that I had every thing ready to go and the resin (reason) I made ginger bread people was that it was a new experience. 
         
  Gingerbread People

Introduction

One day I was feeling like something sweet and crunchy so I made some gingerbread people, yum.  When you are making gingerbread people make sure you make enough dough to make a lot.

Ingredients  

• Half of a block of Butter
• 175g  Brown Sugar
• 1 Egg
• 1 cup Flour
• 2 tsp Ginger
• 1 tsp Bicarbonate Soda

 

Method

Combine all of the ingredients  together until it goes browny yellow .

Dump the dough on to the baking paper then flatten it out with a rolling pin.

Nucle(knuckle)  and smooth then use the Cookie cater (cutter) to make the shape of the gingerbread people

Push  them in the oven to cook and let them cook

While they are cooking  you can make the icing and when they have finished cooking ice them and you will have a yummy treat.

Why

One day I went to have some toast but there was no white soft bread left

so I said to my mum “can we make some bread” and she said yes it was so much fun.

When you are kneading the your bread only torn (turn) it over 2 times.

When you are mixing your ingredients to make your dough, mix for 1 minute.

When you get your water use warm water or als (else) your yeast won't activate.

Ingredients

1 Tbsp of flour

1 Tbsp of white  sugar      

1 tsp of oil

½ half cup of  warm water                      

1 cup of   flour

1 tsp yeast

Method

Pour  the dry ingredients into the bowl then stir it for 5 minutes.

Tip in the water not boiling hot or ice cold it hast to be warm.

Pour in some oil then blend all of the dry and wet ingredients together.

Check that it  is sticky and if it is not add more water.

Quickly some baking paper and spray it with baking spray or put some flour on it.

Put  your dough nicely on to the paper then knead it for 1 or 2 minutes.

Make it into whatever shape you want then cover it  so it can rise for 25 minutes.

Finally, put it in the oven for another 25 - 30 minutes when it is done eat it.

   

Last week we made bread it was fun to make and it was  messy. We made the dough after morning tea then we made the dough into what ever shape we wanted. Then we put ares (ours) into the oven to cook and also my buddy was Te Au and after it cook it was yum.

I have learnt that in the olden days they bake bread with out yeast and it used to take people a really long time to plant the seeds to grown the whet.

I am poem

I am a nice person to others.

I wonder if I can do more.

I hear that there a problems and I like to try to fix them.

I see good things.

I want to help the the endangered animals.

I feel happy most of the time.

I touch my dog and it makes me happy.

It was hard to do this poem because I had not done a poem for a long time and I got mixed up a lot.
I was learning to writ a poem about my self and it was hard because I had to think a lot about my self and writ it down.
